Lelde Cauka-Lopez (b.1992) is a Latvian-born American visual artist living and working in Los Angeles, CA.

Classically trained in fine arts since the age of 10, Lelde has received education from various art schools in Latvia, including the Art Academy of Latvia.
She received her diploma in Design and Arts from the Latvian College of Culture.

Her work explores color abstraction and figuration through painting and textiles, with a particular emphasis on contemporary figurative compositions rendered in acrylic.
Drawing from the stark atmospheres and sensibilities of her Northern European upbringing, Cauka-Lopez merges these influences with the exposure of her cross-cultural surroundings living in California.

Her paintings invite a moment of stillness, a slowing of perception in a hyper-accelerated world. At a time when imagery is consumed at a glance, Cauka-Lopez’s work demands deeper engagement, encouraging viewers to reconsider what lies beneath the surface and to question the boundaries between observation and interpretation.

In her current body of work, she explores how our inner lives are often obscured, hidden in plain sight. Through moody, monochromatic palettes, layered textures, and subtly surreal metaphorical objects, she constructs visual spaces that act as emotional vessels. Each piece becomes a quiet exploration of presence, memory, and concealment, showcasing how our internal worlds are beautifully camouflaged by the instinct to conform to our surroundings.
